27 Building plans approved in September

    The Buildings Department approved 27 building plans in September - four on Hong Kong Island, nine in Kowloon and 14 in the New Territories.

     Of the approved plans, 12 were for apartment and apartment/commercial developments, three were for commercial developments, three were for factory and industrial developments and nine were for community services developments.

     In the same month, consent was given for work to start on 17 building projects that, when completed, will provide 41,132 square metres of gross floor area for domestic use, involving 403 units, and 49,995 square metres of gross floor area for non-domestic use. The department has received notification of commencement of work for 16 building projects.

     The department also issued 19 occupation permits - five on Hong Kong Island, seven in Kowloon and seven in the New Territories.

     Of the buildings certified for occupation, the gross floor areas for domestic use were 112,208 square metres, involving 1,064 units, and 19,273 square metres for non-domestic use.

     The declared cost of the new buildings completed in September totalled about $2.03 billion.

     In addition, five demolition consents involving five building structures were issued.

     The department received 2,285 complaints against unauthorised building works in September, and issued 1,091 removal orders on unauthorised works.
