***************************************************

The Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene has ordered a "siu mei" and "lo mei" shop in Tsuen Wan to suspend business for 14 days for repeated violations of the Food Business Regulation.

The shop at 4A1 (front portion), Tso Kung Street, Tsuen Wan, was ordered to suspend business from today (October 19) to November 1.

"In May and July, there were two convictions in respect of failing to cover food properly at the said food premises. A fine of $2,000 was levied and 15 points were registered against the licensee under the department's demerit points system. The contraventions resulted in the 14-day business suspension," a Food and Environmental Hygiene Department spokesman said.

He added that there were two other convictions for the same offence in respect of the same shop in March and April this year.

"Fines totalling $2,500 was levied and 15 demerit points were registered against the licensee. The breaches led to business suspension for seven days from July 22 to 28," the spokesman said.

He reminded licensees of food premises to comply strictly with the Food Business Regulation, otherwise their licences could be suspended or even cancelled.
