Hongkong Post today (October 18) issued the "Hong Kong, China - Portugal Joint Issue on Fishing Villages" Special Stamps. At a ceremony this morning at the General Post Office, Postmaster General Mr Allan Chiang, Vice-President of Portugal Post Mr Engo Pedro Coelho and Consul-General, Consulate General of Portugal Mr Pedro Moitinho de Almeida, launched the issue by stamping the postmarks of Hongkong Post and Portugal Post onto blown-up first day covers. As a memento of the occasion, Mr Chiang presented to the officiating guests framed stamps and first day covers.
Concurrently a stamp issuing ceremony was also held today in Lisbon, Portugal, to celebrate the event. Director (External Affairs) of Hongkong Post Mr Suresh Mansukhani officiated at the ceremony with the president and senior staff members of Portugal Post.
