***********************************************************

Two Chief Immigration Officers start a two-week exchange programme in France tomorrow (October 17).

Director of Immigration Mr Lai Tung-kwok met the two officers, Mr Choi Yue-ning and Mr Lam Kai-keung, before they set off for France and stressed the importance of enhancing the professionalism of Immigration staff.

The two officers will spend the next fortnight with the French National Police. The objective is to share working experiences through attachment training and to strengthen co-operation between the two authorities in combating the use of forged documentation and illegal migration.

The two officers will visit French Immigration control points, the Immigration branch combating illegal working, the office of documentary fraud and the detention centre. They will also spend time with French Immigration at the Roissy Charles de Gaulle Airport.

Mr Lai said that the visit would provide a good opportunity for the officers to broaden their horizons and to enhance their working relationship with overseas Immigration counterparts.
