The Hong Kong Museum of History will next week hold the last public consultation forum to collect public views on the Dr Sun Yat-sen Museum.
People are welcome to attend the forums next Friday (October 14) to give their views on the museum's name, exhibition contents, facilities and services. The forum will run from 6.30pm to 8pm at the Lecture Hall of the Museum of History, 100 Chatham Road South, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon.
The Government has been considering a museum to commemorate Dr Sun's close relationship with Hong Kong, where he studied and nurtured his revolutionary ideas.
In February, 2004, the Government acquired Kom Tong Hall, a historic building at 7 Castle Road, Central, and has made public its plan of converting these premises into the Dr Sun Yat-sen Museum.
Renovation works at Kom Tong Hall are now under way and are targeted for completion in December, 2006. The museum's grand opening is scheduled for early 2007.
Featuring Dr Sun Yat-sen's life history and revolutionary career, the museum will focus on his involvement in Hong Kong's political, social and economic arenas.
