The Secretary for Commerce, Industry and Technology, Mr John Tsang, will depart for Zurich tomorrow (October 9) to attend the Fluela Group Meeting.
The meeting will consider the progress of the Doha negotiations, with a view to setting the goals and charting the course for the Sixth Ministerial Conference of the World Trade Organization (WTO) to be held in Hong Kong in December. The Director General of the WTO, Mr Pascal Lamy, will join the meeting.
The Fluela Group Meeting will draw together trade ministers from Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Egypt, European Communities, India, Hong Kong China, Japan, Kenya, Korea, Malaysia, Rwanda, South Africa, and the US. It is named after the hotel where certain trade ministers had their small group breakfast meeting in Davos, Switzerland this January.
While in Zurich, Mr Tsang will also hold bilateral meetings with the trade ministers of Switzerland and Egypt.
Mr Tsang will return to Hong Kong on Tuesday (October 11).
