Medical and nursing staff of the Centre for Health protection (CHP) of the Department of Health (DH) today (September 25) distributed health information leaflets in Victoria Park to members of the public, in particular Indonesians and other ethnic minorities in Hong Kong, to remind them to be on guard against avian flu. The leaflets, entitled "What you should know about Avian Influenza", are printed in eight languages -- Indonesian, Thai, Tagalog, Urdu, Hindi, Nepali, Chinese, and English. They contain information on the transmission mode and symptoms of avian flu as well as preventive measures. Staff of CHP also answered questions raised by people in the park. Today's exercise was launched as part of the measures to prevent avian flu in view of the recent human avian influenza cases in Indonesia.
