The nomination period for the by-election in the King Tin Constituency of the Kwun Tong District Council will start on Thursday (September 8) and run until September 21.
"The nominee must be a registered geographical constituency elector, aged 21 and above, and have ordinarily lived in Hong Kong for the three years immediately before the nomination," a spokesman for the Registration and Electoral Office said today (September 4).
"A nomination must be subscribed by 10 registered electors of the constituency. Each elector is allowed to subscribe to only one nomination."
The District Officer (Kwun Tong) has been appointed as the Returning Officer for the by-election. His office is located at 3/F Kwun Tong District Branch Offices Building, 6 Tung Yan Street, Kwun Tong.
The nominee must personally hand in his/her completed nomination form, together with an election deposit of $3,000, to the Returning Officer during ordinary business hours within the nomination period.
Nomination forms are available at the office of the Returning Officer, or at the Registration and Electoral Office at 10/F Harbour Centre, 25 Harbour Road, Wan Chai, or at 10/F Guardian House, 32 Oi Kwan Road, Wan Chai. They can also be downloaded at www.gov.hk/reo. Enquiries can be made to the Election Hotline on 2891 1001.
All prospective candidates are advised to submit their nominations as early as possible so they will have time to rectify any mistakes in their nomination forms before the deadline.
If there is more than one validly nominated candidate, a poll will be held on Sunday, October 23.
