The Financial Secretary, Mr Henry Tang, will leave Hong Kong for Korea on September 6 to attend the 12th Asia Pacific Economic Co-operation (APEC) Finance Ministers Meeting on Jeju Island.
The finance ministers of the APEC economies will exchange views on global and regional economic developments and discuss other policy themes during the meetings. The policy themes of this yearˇ¦s meetings are ˇ§Free and stable movement of capitalˇ¨ and ˇ§Meet the challenge of ageing economiesˇ¨.
Mr Tang will return to Hong Kong on September 9. During his absence from Hong Kong, Secretary for Economic Development and Labour Mr Stephen Ip will double up as Financial Secretary in addition to his own duties.
Member economies of APEC are Australia; Brunei Darussalam; Canada; Chile; China; Hong Kong, China; Indonesia; Japan; Korea; Malaysia; Mexico; New Zealand; Papua New Guinea; Peru; the Philippines; Russia; Singapore; Chinese Taipei; Thailand; the United States of America; and Vietnam.
