The Government gazetted today (September 2) the Places for Autopsies (Amendment) Order 2005 to add Kwai Chung Public Mortuary to the Schedule to the Places for Autopsies Order (the Schedule).
This brought to 22 the total number of mortuaries on the list in the Schedule, the spokesman said.
"The legislative amendment takes effect upon publication in the gazette today (September 2)," he added.
The Coroners Ordinance provides, inter alia, that the Secretary for Health, Welfare and Food may, by order published in the Gazette, specify in the Schedule places to be mortuaries for the reception of bodies for the purpose of autopsies.
