The Government today (August 26) announced that the Chief Executive had appointed Mr Henry Tsang Yuk-wong, Mr Adrian Wong Koon-man and Ms Marina Wong Yu-pok, new members of the Broadcasting Authority (BA) for a term of two years from September 1, 2005.
Three existing members, Ms Carlye Tsui Wai-ling, Mrs Stella Lau Kun Lai-kuen and Professor Leonard Cheng Kwok-hon, have also been re-appointed for a term of two years from September 1.
Mr Henry Tsang is the managing director of an investment and financial firm. He has extensive experience in both the investment and technology sectors. He is currently serving on the Board of Directors of the Applied Science and Technology Research Institute.
Mr Adrian Wong is a solicitor. He served on the Code of Practice Committee of the BA from 1996 to 2002, and has been a member of the Complaints Committee of the BA since 2002.
Ms Marina Wong is a certified public accountant. She is currently a member of the Consumer Council and has served on the Board of Directors of the Applied Research Council.
Welcoming the appointments, the Secretary for Commerce, Industry and Technology, Mr John Tsang, said the professional expertise and extensive experience of the three new members would enrich the deliberation of the Broadcast Authority in handling the increasingly complex regulatory issues.
Mr Tsang also expressed sincere gratitude to the three outgoing members - Mr Roger Luk, Mr Felix Fong and Mr John Lee - for their untiring support and contributions to the authority.
"All three have offered valuable input to the Broadcasting Authority in handling a range of significant and complicated broadcasting issues. Their dedication to the authority has helped it discharge its duty in the most impartial and professional manner. I would like to thank them for their distinguished services to the authority," Mr Tsang said.
The three outgoing members will have served the BA for seven years when their term ends at the end of August. Mr Luk has been serving as Chairman of the BA's Complaints Committee, while Mr Fong is the Chairman of the Codes of Practice Committee.
