Stage IV of S6 Admission Procedure to be held
tomorrow

    A total of 3,193 Secondary Six (S6) places in public sector schools are still available for Secondary Five (S5) graduates to apply in Stage IV of the S6 Admission Procedure tomorrow (August 12).

    On completion of Stage III today, 22,184 students have been successful in acquiring S6 places.

    Students with Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination results satisfying the minimum A-Level entry requirements may apply to other schools in Stage IV to be held between 9am and 4:30pm tomorrow.

    Meanwhile, the Joint Admission Centre for schools in the Islands district will continue to operate in Stage IV. The centre is situated at the pier for HKKF ferry to Lamma Island, 2/F, Pier 4, New Reclamation, Central.

    To facilitate students to apply to other schools, the Education and Manpower Bureau (EMB) has been releasing S6 vacancy information on the Internet at http://emb.gov.hk/s6ap and by the Interactive Voice Response (IVR) telephone hotline system at 1835 900. The school codes could be obtained from the EMB Homepage (http://www.emb.gov.hk) or "The Careers Guidance Handbook for Secondary 5 Graduates".

    Students may make use of the computers for public use at public libraries, District Offices, community centres and community halls, and ESD kiosks to access vacancy information on the Internet.

    In 2005-06 to 2007-08, the Hong Kong College of Technology (HKCT) has been commissioned to operate evening senior secondary courses in designated Government school premises. Learners fulfilling relevant requirements will be eligible for a reimbursement of 30% or full course fee as applicable.

    HKCT will hold a briefing session on its courses tomorrow (from 7pm to 8pm) at Queen Elizabeth School in Mong Kok, Kowloon. Interested students can call 2192 8118 for registration.

    To facilitate students to join Project Yi Jin, the Federation for Continuing Education in Tertiary Institutions (FCE) will hold an Exhibition and Joint Registration for full-time programmes at the Hong Kong International Trade and Exhibition Centre at Kowloon Bay tomorrow (from 2pm to 6pm), and on August 13 and 14 (from 10am to 6pm) and handle applications.

    Students who have successfully completed the programmes will be awarded a full certificate. Holders of the full certificate can further their studies, such as taking courses run by the FCE's  member institutions, or seek employment, including applying for more than 30 civil service posts.
