The Council for Sustainable Development will consider views expressed by the public before choosing priorities for the next stage of the Sustainable Development Strategy, Council Chairman and Chief Secretary for Administration Mr Rafael Hui said today (August 9).
"The council recognises the importance of listening to the views of stakeholders in planning the long-term sustainability of our city," said Mr Hui. "We will build on the experience gained during the first engagement process, and plan for a more participatory process for the second round of strategy building."
At the council meeting today, the Chair of the Strategy Sub-committee, Ir Otto Poon, noted that views expressed at a stakeholder forum hosted by the Council on July 28 could be grouped into two broad categories, namely: "A Healthy Living Environment" and "Population and Human Development".
"The sub-committee will assess stakeholder feedback further and consider the appropriate scope of potential new priority areas before putting forward a final recommendation for the council's consideration," Ir Poon said.
The full agenda and discussion papers for today's council meeting will be posted on the website of the Sustainable Development Unit (www.susdev.gov.hk) within this week, and the digest of discussion at the meeting will be posted shortly afterwards.
