Government IT staff service contracts awarded

*********************************************

The Office of the Government Chief Information Officer (OGCIO) today (July 25) awarded standing offer agreements to 10 companies for the provision of information technology (IT) contract staff services to government departments.

The 10 contractors will provide IT contract staff services as and when required by government departments for three years, effective from September 1, 2005. The contracts are non-exclusive in nature and will complement other agreements that Government has put in place for IT professional services on an assignment basis.

Speaking at the contract-signing ceremony this afternoon, the Government Chief Information Officer, Mr Howard Dickson, said the engagement of contract staff in the Government?s IT services symbolised the close collaboration between the Government and its IT service partners.

Mr Dickson said the contracts would help to provide a competitive and reliable source of supply of IT staff for government departments.

?This will also allow government departments to enjoy maximum flexibility to adjust their IT manpower levels in response to the different phases of IT project implementation,? he said.

The companies that have been awarded the standing offer agreements are as follows:

1.Automated Systems (H.K.) Limited

2.Camcentre Limited

3.CL Technical Services Limited

4.EDPS Systems Limited

5.InfoTech Services (Hong Kong) Limited

6.Manpower Services (Hong Kong) Limited

7.QUESCO Systems Limited

8.Synova Inc.

9.Unihub Limited

10.Verossity Limited

Under the new batch of standing offer agreements, IT staff service  draw-down requirements will be open to bidding by the 10 contractors and awarded to the ones that offer the most suitable personnel fulfilling the price and qualification requirements.

The introduction of a second-tier bidding mechanism under the new agreements is a new initiative that aims to enhance the competitiveness of the contracts and ensure cost-effective services will continue to be supplied under the changing market conditions.
