Land Registry statistics for first half of 2005

The Land Registry released today (July 5) land registration statistics recorded for the first half of 2005.
The total number of sale and purchase agreements for all types of building units received for registration in the Land Registry for the period was 73,812. This represented an increase of 23.7% compared with the second half of 2004 and 15.7% compared with the first half of 2004.
The total amount of consideration involved in these agreements was $233.40 billion. This was up by 33.8% compared with the second half of 2004 and 31.6% compared with the first half of 2004.
During the first half of 2005, 86,004 assignments of building units were lodged for registration. This was 31.8% above the 65,245 assignments recorded during the second half of 2004 and 23.1% above the 69,861 assignments recorded in the first half of 2004.
The total consideration amounted to $225.26 billion. This was an increase of 46.1% over the second half of 2004 and 48.7% over the first half of 2004.
Searches of land records made by members of the public during the first half of 2005 totalled 2,227,847. This was up 15% compared with the second half of 2004 and 28.9% compared with the first half of 2004.
