The Assistant Postmaster General (Postal), Mr Chan Yau-fung, announced today (December 31) that due to the considerable damage the tsunamis had caused to extensive areas in Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Maldives, Malaysia, Myanmar, Somalia, Sri Lanka and Thailand, mail delivery service to the long stretch of the eastern coastline in Sri Lanka has been temporarily suspended.

Postal items addressed to the other countries concerned are subject to delay until further notice.
