Chilled geese and ducks imported to Hong Kong today

***************************************************

Four consignments of chilled geese and ducks have been imported from the Mainland to Hong Kong today (September 20) following a temporary suspension of supply since early August.

"The four consignments comprising 5,600 chilled geese and 9,700 chilled ducks imported have all passed the testing for avian influenza H5 virus," a spokesman for the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department said.

"Samples were collected from the consignments upon arrival at Man Kam To for rapid screening testing for H5 virus.

"Results of laboratory tests confirmed that all the samples were negative for the virus. The chilled geese and ducks have been released for sale," he said.
