Poll cards sent to 3.2 million electors

***************************************

About 3.2 million registered electors should have by now received a poll card reminding them where and how to vote in the 2004 Legislative Council election.

Polling will be held on September 12 (Sunday), from 7.30am to 10.30pm.

The electoral mailing package sent out by the Registration and Electoral Office to each elector includes a poll card, a map indicating the location of the designated polling station, a voting guide and an introductory leaflet containing the photographs, personal particulars and platforms of the candidates in their respective constituencies.

There is also a leaflet from the Independent Commission Against Corruption on clean and fair elections.

Electors who have not received the material may make enquiries through the election hotline on 2891 1001.

All functional constituency electors, who are geographical constituency electors as well, will have the introductory leaflet of candidates in their functional constituency included as part of the mailing package sent to them. Those in the 11 functional constituencies that have their candidates elected unopposed will see a notification on the cover of the leaflet that reminds them voting for that functional constituency is not required.

Ends/Monday, September 6, 2004
