Appointments to Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority

The Government today (August 20) announced the appointment of six members of the Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority (HKEAA). The members are as follows:

Mr Chan Wing-kwong, MH

Dr Magdalena Mok Mo-ching

(From September 1, 2004 to August 31, 2006)

Mr Stanley Chu Yu-lun

Mr Lee Chi-ming

Mrs Jackie Ma LAI Bik-lin

Mr Tai Wai-sum

(From September 1, 2004 to August 31, 2007)

The Secretary for Education and Manpower, Professor Arthur KC Li, said that the rich experience in the educational or other professional fields possessed by the appointees would help steer the future development of HKEAA.

He also expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the outgoing members, including Dr Anissa CHAN WONG Lai Kuen, Mr KWAN Chuk-fai, Mr OR Choi-kuen, Ms PANG Shuk-mei and Mr YIP Chee-tim, for their valuable contribution in the past years.

The following is the new membership of the HKEAA with effect from September 1, 2004:

Chairman

Mr Irving Koo Yee-yin, SBS, JP*

Deputy Chairman

Mr Cheung Pak-hong, BBS*

Ex-officio Members

Two people nominated by the Heads of Universities Committee

The Chairman of the Curriculum Development Council, or his/her representative

The Executive Director of the Vocational Training Council, or his/her representative

The Permanent Secretary for Education and Manpower, or his/her representative

The Secretary General of the HKEAA

Appointed Members

Notes:

* The term of these appointed members is for a period of three years from September 1, 2003 to August 31, 2006.

# The term of these appointed members is for a period of two years from September 1, 2004 to August 31, 2006.

The term of the other appointed members is for a period of three years from September 1, 2004 to August 31, 2007.
