A total of 109 nominations were received for the 2004 Legislative Council (Legco) election during the two-week nomination period. Nominations started on July 22 and closed at 5pm today (August 4).

On the last day of nomination today, six more nominations were received for elections in five geographical constituencies, while six nominations were filed for elections in four functional constituencies.

During the whole nomination period, a total of 37 candidate lists consisting of 90 candidates submitted nominations for geographical constituency polls, and 72 candidates came forward for functional constituency polls.

The breakdowns by geographical constituency of nomination lists received today and for the whole nomination period are as follows:

The names of all validly nominated candidates for the election will be published in the Government Gazette on August 13 after validation of candidates has been carried out by Returning Officers of the respective geographical or functional constituencies.
