A total of four nominations were received today (July 31) for the 2004 Legislative Council (Legco) election in September.

A Returning Officer for geographical constituency received three nominations as follows:

Hong Kong Island (0)

Kowloon West (0)

Kowloon East (0)

New Territories West (3)

New Territories East (0)

Total (3)

A Returning Officer for functional constituency received one nomination.

Personal particulars of the nominees, including their constituency, name, gender, occupation and political affiliation, are available at the 2004 Legco election website, www.elections.gov.hk.

The two-week nomination period will end at 5pm on August 4 (Wednesday).

A spokesman for the Registration and Electoral Office reminded prospective candidates to hand in their nominations as early as possible. This will allow them more time to rectify mistakes in respect of their entries, such as bad cheques, before the nomination closes.
