SARS-related roving exhibition at HKCEC

The following is issued on behalf of the Committee on the Promotion of Civic Education:

Members of the public are invited to visit an exhibition, entitled "A Tribute to the Fighting Spirit against SARS", held at the Hong Kong Book Fair 2004 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (Booth 5A08, Hall 5) until July 26.

Jointly organised by the Committee on the Promotion of Civic Education (CPCE) and the Home Affairs Bureau, the exhibition aims to sustain the precious civic values manifested by the Hong Kong community in the fight against SARS, including professionalism, care and harmony, unity and solidarity, selfless sacrifice, and a high sense of civic responsibility.

It features a wide-range of SARS-related publications, documentaries, audio-visual productions, photos and other records.

A kick-off ceremony will be held tomorrow (July 23) at 6.30pm at "Children Paradise Stage" of the Hong Kong Book Fair, with the Chairman of the CPCE, Mr Daniel Heung as the officiating guest. It will feature a children Cantonese opera performance by the "Chadukchang" Children's Cantonese Opera Association, which aims to promote the spirit of co-operation and unity among the community.

The exhibition will be held at other venues during the following period:

Date: August 20 to 22

Venue: Kowloon City Plaza

Date: August 28 to 30

Venue: Park Central, Tseung Kwan O

A number of TV Announcements in the Public Interest (TVAPIs) were produced in 2003 to promote the values manifested in the SARS crisis. Members of the public are invited to review these TVAPIs at the exhibition venues as well as the CPCE's website (http://www.cpce.gov.hk) to share their views with an aim to reinforcing the community's collective memory.
