The Registration and Electoral Office today (July 21) released the final registers of electors to pave the way for the 2004 Legislative Council election.
The final registers contain the names and residential addresses of electors, who are eligible to vote in the September 12 election. A designated polling station will be allocated to an elector according to his/her registered address.
The size of the electorate for geographical constituencies stands at 3,207,227, which increases by 151,849, or 4.97%, as compared with 3,055,378 registered electors in 2000.
The distribution of electors in the five geographical constituencies is:
Hong Kong Island 618,451
Kowloon East 524,896
Kowloon West 420,259
New Territories East 770,590
New Territories West 873,031
The final register for the 28 functional constituencies carries 199,539 electors. This represents an increase of 23,933 or 13.63% over the number of registered electors in 2000.
Apart from registration of new electors, a total of 603,585 existing records have been updated in the final register for geographical constituencies while 4,887 entries have been updated in the final register for functional constituencies.
Hard copies of the final registers for geographical constituencies are available for public inspection at:
* The Registration and Electoral Office (10/F Harbour Centre, 25 Harbour Road, Wan Chai) and
* All District Offices (only that section of the register which includes electors of the geographical constituency concerned is available).
The final register for functional constituencies is available for public inspection at:
*The Registration and Electoral Office (10/F Harbour Centre, 25 Harbour Road, Wan Chai; and 10/F Guardian House, 32 Oi Kwan Road, Wan Chai) and
* Five District Offices in Central and Western, Yau Tsim Mong, Kwun Tong, Shatin and Tsuen Wan.
