MPFA Chairman welcomes appointment of Mrs Diana Chan

The Chairman of the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA), Mr Charles Lee Yeh-kwong, today (June 10) welcomes the Chief Executive's appointment of Mrs Diana Chan as the Managing Director of the MPFA for a term of three years, with effect from 1 July 2004.

"The Management Board is very pleased with the performance of Mrs Diana Chan during the past year when she was Acting Managing Director. The Board is confident that the MPF System will be further enhanced under the able leadership of Mrs Diana Chan," Mr Lee added.

Mrs Chan said, "I feel privileged to be given the opportunity to continue serving the MPFA as Managing Director. Under the guidance and support of the Chairman and the Board members, I look forward to working closely with the professional and dedicated staff of MPFA in meeting the challenges that lie ahead. I also look forward to the continual support of the MPF service providers, practitioners, labour unions, employees, employers and the Government in strengthening the MPF System, for better retirement protection of the local workforce."

Mrs Chan joined the MPFA as Executive Director (Corporate Services) in 2000 and became the Chief Operating Officer (Corporate Affairs) in 2001 with responsibilities for policy development, corporate affairs, human resources, finance and information technology. She has served as Acting Managing Director since July 2003 upon the departure of Mr Rafael Hui. Before joining the MPFA, Mrs Chan served in the Administrative Service of the Hong Kong Government in 1980-1991 as well as in the Hospital Authority in 1991-2000.
