Appointments to Committee on the Promotion of Civic Education

The Government announced today (May 7) the appointment of 10 new members to the Committee on the Promotion of Civic Education (CPCE) for a two-year term starting April 1, 2004.

Meanwhile, five members were re-appointed for the same period starting April 1, 2004.

The following is a full list of the non-official members of the committee commencing April 1, 2004:

Existing members:

(1) Mr Daniel Heung Cheuk-kei (Chairman)

The committee also includes representatives from the Home Affairs Bureau, Education and Manpower Bureau, Information Services Department, Department of Justice, Social Welfare Department, Hong Kong Police Force, Radio Television Hong Kong and Independent Commission Against Corruption.

The CPCE is a non-statutory advisory body tasked with the promotion of civic education outside schools through a range of publicity and educational programmes. It commissions research studies on different aspects of civic education, works in partnership with other non-governmental organisations on specific promotion projects, and operates funding schemes to sponsor non-governmental organisations in carrying out civic education projects.
