LCQ7: Prosecutions relating to environmental or town planning laws

Following is a question by the Hon Martin Lee and a written reply by the Secretary for the Environment, Transport and Works, Dr Sarah Liao, at the Legislative Council meeting today (March 17):

Question:

Will the Government inform this Council of the respective numbers of prosecutions instituted in the past five years by government departments by invoking the relevant provisions of the Air Pollution Control Ordinance, Water Pollution Control Ordinance, Noise Control Ordinance, Waste Disposal Ordinance, Dumping at Sea Ordinance, Environmental Impact Assessment Ordinance, Marine Parks Ordinance and Town Planning Ordinance, the outcome of such prosecutions and the penalties imposed by the court on the convicted?

Reply:

Madam President,

The numbers of prosecutions instituted by invoking the relevant ordinances, the outcome and the penalties imposed by the court are set out in the Annex.
