Following is the transcript of remarks given by the Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr Donald Tsang, on the Budget at a media stand-up this afternoon (March 10):
The Chief Secretary for Administration: In the initial phase, the early stage of economic revival, Mr Tang has made, I think, a very prudent and very appropriate Budget. He has made a very delicate balance between maintaining Hong Kong's competitiveness and the spending programme. He is determined to balance the Budget by 2008/09. In this regard, he has made every effort to meet community aspirations and the spending programmes of various bureaux. Together with all our bureaux, all the principal officials, we are in full support of this Budget.
