In response to media enquiries, a spokesman of the Department of Health (DH) said today (February 9) that DH was notified by the Hospital Authority about a number of patients in Prince of Wales Hospital Ward 8A developing fever. No abnormal staff sickness was noted.
DH is liaising closely with the Hospital Authority and investigating into the case. Laboratory tests are being conducted, including those for SARS and influenza, to identify the cause of illness.
