"CEPA Promotion Week for Mainland, Hong Kong and Macau" moves to Shanghai

********************************************************

The "CEPA Promotion Week for Mainland, Hong Kong and Macau", a large-scale exhibition, was held in Shanghai today (January 15) following the Beijing leg last week. It is one of the initiatives of the HKSAR Government to promote the advantages of the "Mainland and Hong Kong Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement" (CEPA).

The event is co-organised by the China Council for the Promotion of Investment Trade (CCPIT), Invest Hong Kong and the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute. It is supported by the HKSAR Government, the Macao SAR Government and the Ministry of Commerce. The objective is to introduce the benefits of CEPA for the Mainland, Hong Kong and Macau, and to explore the implications for specific sectors.

The Director-General of Investment Promotion, Mr Mike Rowse, spoke at the opening ceremony today, introducing the advantages of doing business in Hong Kong and welcoming Mainland companies to expand their businesses into Hong Kong. Other speakers included Mayor of Shanghai, Mr Han Zheng, and representatives from CCPIT and Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute. Mr Rowse also had a meeting with the Vice-Mayor of Shanghai, Mr Zhou Yupeng, today.

During the promotion week, a two-day seminar will be held on 15-16 January, in conjunction with a four-day exhibition from 15 to 18 January.
