The Department of Health (DH), in collaboration with the University of Hong Kong, will conduct a month-long serological study among close contacts of SARS patients with a view to assessing the risk of SARS transmission to them.
The study will bring public health benefits and improve our understanding about the transmission properties of SARS corona virus.
Nurses of DH will start to conduct telephone interviews with the close contacts of SARS patients next Monday. All interviewees will be invited for blood tests at DH Regional Offices or Elderly Health Service Centres. Results of the blood tests will be given to the interviewees after the study.
