Chief Executive appoints Selina Chow to Executive Council

The Chief Executive, Mr Tung Chee Hwa, today (September 22) announced the appointment of Mrs Selina Chow Liang Shuk-yee to the Executive Council.

Mrs Chow's appointment takes effect today.

Mr Tung said: "Mrs Chow has a wealth of experience in public service as well as in the Executive Council and Legislative Council. Her acceptance of the appointment to meet the challenges of these difficult times shows her commitment to Hong Kong."

Mr Tung is confident that she will make an outstanding contribution to promoting cooperation between the executive and legislative bodies, and to public affairs.

Following are the biographical notes on Mrs Chow:

Mrs Selina Chow Liang Shuk-yee

Aged 58, Mrs Chow is a full-time Legislative Councillor.

Mrs Chow has a long history of public service. She is now the Chairman of the Hong Kong Tourism Board, a Board Member of the Airport Authority, and a member of the Trade Development Council, the Film Development Fund Projects Vetting Committee and the Film Services Advisory Committee.

Mrs Chow was a member of the Executive Council from 1991 to 1992. She has also served in many public organisations and bodies, including the Consumer Council, the Law Reform Commission, the Hong Kong Housing Society, the Hong Kong Housing Authority, the Education Commission, the Small and Medium Enterprises Committee, the Fight Crime Committee, and the Advisory Committee on Corruption of the Independent Commission Against Corruption.
