Following is the transcript of the media session by the Chief Executive, Mr Tung Chee Hwa, after meeting members of the community from Kowloon at Hong Kong Science Museum this evening (August 15):
Question: Mr Tung, could you briefly explain why you would like to come here to reach the bottom of the district and rather not let your colleagues do it and report back to you ?
Chief Executive: I think I will do it. My colleagues will also do it. We all need to do this. I have said sometime ago that it is not a casual visit. We have institutionalised all these arrangements. So I will do the visiting. My colleagues will do the visiting because it is important to listen to the views at the district level. Day-to-day problems that all our citizens face are of great importance to us and it will help us do a better job in formulating our policies or implementing our policies.
