Following is the transcript of remarks by the Financial Secretary, Mr Henry Tang, after his meeting with the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA), Mr Joseph Yam, at the West Wing lobby, Central Government Offices this (August 7) morning:

I am very happy that we have this meeting today to discuss the work between the HKMA and the HKSAR Government. Based on Mr Yam's past experience and my knowledge of him, I have full confidence that Mr Yam will be able to very competently achieve currency stability, a stable monetary policy, as well as to resolve problems together. So I have every confidence in Mr Yam.
