Police are anxious to locate the next-of-kin or relatives of a baby girl who was found abandoned in Yuen Long this morning (July 31).

At about 9.34 am, an Asian woman carrying a baby girl approached a 56-year-old woman who was sitting in the resting area outside a public toilet in Hong King Street, Yuen Long. The Asian woman requested the 56-year-old woman to take care of the baby girl for her temporarily before leaving the scene. The 56-year-old woman reported the case to police after the Asian woman failed to return.

The baby girl is newly born and is about 2.75 kg in weight. She was dressed in adult clothing and wrapped in a floral pattern cloth. She has been admitted to Tuen Mun Hospital for observation.

Police urge the next-of-kin or relatives of the girl, or anyone who has information to offer, to contact investigation officers of Yuen Long District at 2473 8258.
