SEM meets with officials of Ministry of Education

The Secretary for Education and Manpower, Professor Arthur K C Li, and the Permanent Secretary for Education and Manpower, Mrs Fanny Law, met with the Minister of Education, Mr Zhou Ji, and other officials during a duty visit to the Ministry of Education in Beijing today (July 31).

The two parties exchanged views on educational matters in general, including the collaboration and admission procedures of the higher education institutions between the mainland and Hong Kong as well as enhancing exchange among secondary schools.

Professor Li said, "This is my first official visit to the Ministry of Education and the first time I met with Mr Zhou in Beijing. We have agreed to strengthen the co-operation of all levels between Hong Kong and China on the matters of education and to enhance the exchange of talents. The meeting has paved the way for further discussion in the future."

Meanwhile, Professor Li and Mrs Law also paid a courtesy call to Hong Kong-Macao Affairs Office during their stay in Beijing.

Professor Li returned to Hong Kong this evening.
