In conjunction with the Hong Kong Heritage Museum's Food Culture Festival, museum patrons will be entitled to special offers at eight New Town Plaza restaurants from August 1 (Friday) until October 31.

To qualify, patrons need only present a valid Hong Kong Heritage Museum admission ticket, a museum pass or complimentary admission ticket at the participating eateries - East East Wonton, Gold River Vietnamese Food Shop, Italian Tomato, McTreat, Orchard Garden Cafe & Restaurant, The Spaghetti House, Ting Lam Kok Chinese Restaurant, and Wo Kee Loong.

The privilege package is a partnership project between the Heritage Museum and Sun Hung Kai Properties.

Hong Kong is renowned as a culinary paradise where east and west, new and old, combine. To increase awareness of this fascinating food culture, the Heritage Museum this year launched the Food Culture Festival, involving a series of art and history exhibitions and educational activities. And its next-door neighbour, New Town Plaza, proved to be the ideal place to experience this special food culture at first hand.

Said the Chief Curator of the Heritage Museum, Mr Tom Ming Kay-chuen: "With more than 40 eateries offering cuisines from all over the world, the New Town Plaza is a vivid illustration of the exciting food culture of Hong Kong. This partnership project with Sun Hung Kai Properties demonstrates that culture and art are important to our everyday lives and worth our time to explore and appreciate."

In addition to the food privileges, the Food Parc in Phase One of New Town Plaza will play host to a "Culture and Art Gallery" from August 1 to March 2004. The first exhibition there will be entitled More Than Just Food, and it will be followed by the exhibitions Hong Kong's Food Culture and A Cup of Tea.

Located at 1 Man Lam Road in Sha Tin, the Heritage Museum is open from 10am to 6pm from Monday to Saturday, and from 10am to 7pm on Sundays and public holidays. It is closed on Tuesdays (except public holidays).

Admission is $10, with a half-price concession for full-time students, people with disabilities and senior citizens aged 60 or above. Admission is free on Wednesdays.

As part of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department's Arts Care initiative, visitors will enjoy the Buy-one-get-one-free scheme when they visit the Heritage Museum in July and August. Anyone who buys an admission ticket will receive a complimentary admission coupon valid until September 30, 2003, at the Heritage Museum, Hong Kong Museum of History, Hong Kong Museum of Art, Hong Kong Science Museum, Hong Kong Museum of Coastal Defence, and Hong Kong Space Museum. (Complimentary admission applies to all museum attractions except the Space Theatre of the Hong Kong Space Museum and special exhibitions with separate admission charges).

A free shuttle bus operates between the Sha Tin KCR Station and the Heritage Museum from 1pm to 6pm on Saturdays and from 1pm to 7pm on Sundays and public holidays.
