Men jailed for head-bashing robbery

***********************************

Two men, aged 24 and 33, were jailed for six years and their 17-year-old accomplice was sentenced to Training Centre after they were convicted of head bashing robbery at the Court of First Instance of the High Court today (July 24).

The court heard that in the afternoon of November 22, 2002, a 44-year-old woman was attacked at her head by three men with hard objects after she had withdrawn $88,000 from a bank on Nathan Road in Yau Ma Tei.

The culprits snatched away her handbag and then fled in a taxi.

A report was made to the Police.

Responding to the call, the taxi was intercepted with the culprits arrested on board.

The stolen handbag was also found in the taxi.

The trio, who were charged subsequently, pleaded guilty on July 10, and the sentence was meted out today.
