The Transport Department announces that since traffic around the container port in Kwai Chung is very busy this (July 24) morning, container truck drivers and motorists are advised to avoid travelling to the area unless it is absolutely necessary.

A Transport Department spokesman appealed to commuters to make use of the Mass Transit Railway or ferry service. They may also use the Shing Mun Tunnel to reach Tsuen Wan via Route 5.

The spokesman said traffic at container port had been busy now. Various Government departments had been monitoring the situation and the Police have deployed their officers to regulate traffic at the round-abouts near the area, he added.

The Transport Department is also adjusting the traffic signals with the Area Traffic Control System to help smooth traffic.
