Premier arrives in HK for 3-day visit

Premier Wen Jiabao arrived in Hong Kong at 11.30 am this morning (June 29) for a three-day visit.

Chief Executive Mr Tung Chee Hwa greeted the Premier at Hong Kong International Airport and introduced him to the welcoming party, Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Mr Gao Siren; Chief Secretary for Administration Mr Donald Tsang; Financial Secretary Mr Antony Leung; Secretary for Justice Ms Elsie Leung; President of the Legislative Council Mrs Rita Fan; Executive Council member Mr Leung Chun-ying; Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China in the HKSAR Mr Ji Peiding; Commander of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) garrison in Hong Kong Major-General Wang Jitang; and Political Commissar, Major-General Wang Yufa of the PLA Forces in Hong Kong.

The Hong Kong Police Band performed "The Welcome March" as Premier Wen disembarked from the plane and a group of children from Ching Chung Hau Po Woon Primary School gave him an enthusiastic welcome, one presenting him with a bouquet.

This afternoon, Premier Wen will witness the co-signing of the Mainland/Hong Kong Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement (CEPA) at Government House. After the signing ceremony, he will give a speech to a gathering of guests in the ballroom.
