The Judiciary announced today (June 27) the appointments of Ms Queeny Au Yeung Kwai-yue and Mr Louis Chan Kong-yiu as Judges of the District Court. The appointments will take effect from June 30, 2003.

Biographical notes of the appointed Judges are as follows :

Ms Queeny Au Yeung Kwai-yue

Ms Queeny Au Yeung Kwai-yue was born in Hong Kong in 1962. She obtained LL.B. and P.C.LL. from the University of Hong Kong in 1984 and 1985 respectively. She was called to the Bar in Hong Kong in 1985 and was in private practice since 1986. She was appointed by the Hong Kong Judiciary as Magistrate in 1995 and Registrar of the District Court in 2001.

Mr Louis Chan Kong-yiu

Mr Louis Chan Kong-yiu was born in Hong Kong in 1954. He obtained LL.B. from the University of London (External Studies) in 1982 and P.C.LL. from the University of Hong Kong in 1983. He was called to the Bar in Hong Kong in 1983 and was in private practice since 1984.
