Following is the speech given by the Chief Executive, Mr Tung Chee Hwa, at the "Hello from Hong Kong" postcard campaign at the General Post Office this (June 13) afternoon:
Ladies and gentlemen:
I am delighted to be here today to launch the Government's "Hello from Hong Kong" campaign to enhance international awareness that Hong Kong has contained SARS and is safe to visit.
I urge everyone in the community to play a part in spreading this message all around the world. You can either send an e-card from our website or send this postcard to your family, friends or business contacts around the world.
I am very pleased that representatives from all sectors of our community have taken time to join us in this wonderful international outreach effort. In addition, six telephone network operators in Hong Kong have pledged their support by providing their customers with free five-minute IDD phone calls on Sunday. So please use this opportunity.
All this support once again demonstrated the community's solidarity in fighting SARS.
