Following is the transcript of the Secretary for Commerce, Industry and Technology, Mr Henry Tang, speaking to the media after attending the opening ceremony of the SME Market Day Exhibition today (June 5):
Reporter: CDC announced that they will lift travel advisory on Hong Kong, how it will benefit Hong Kong's industries....?
SCIT: I welcome the American CDC for lifting its travel advisory on Hong Kong. I think together with WHO's travel advisory, the combination of the two organisations lifting their travel advice on Hong Kong will in a large way enhance Hong Kong's fundamental position as the trading and industrial centre for the Hong Kong and the Greater Pearl River Delta. I have no doubt that based on the success we have had so far, especially on the number of exhibitions we have held, we have had no cases of SARS. All the overseas exhibitions and missions that have gone overseas, again there are no case of SARS. I believe our record speaks for itself and other people will have confidence in our containment and our control procedures that we will not spread SARS.
