Situation report on Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome

The following is jointly issued by the Department of Health and the Hospital Authority:

There are two new confirmed cases of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) today (May 29). However, there is no SARS case involving healthcare worker.

The number of patients recovered and discharged from hospitals continues to rise to 1302. Of them, 7 were discharged today.

Including 32 patients in intensive care unit, there are 92 cases under treatment in hospitals. Most of the patients are showing positive responses to the treatment protocol. In addition, 65 are recovering patients in convalescence and in preparation for discharge.

Three patients died in North District Hospital(NDH) and Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital (AHNH). This brought to 273 the total number of deaths relating to SARS.

The deceased were three women aged 78 to 92. Their information is as follows:
