Health and medical professionals of Guangdong, Macau and Hong Kong will hold the first tripartite meeting in Hong Kong on May 29 and 30 on issues relating to the prevention and control of severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS).
During the two-day meeting to be held at the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine in Wong Chuk Hang, health officials and medical experts of the three places will exchange views and information on clinical treatment as well as measures on the prevention and control of SARS.
Meanwhile, delegates of the three places will discuss arrangements relating to the further extension of the notification mechanism to other infectious diseases and the exchange of latest information on health research among the three parties.
Guangdong and Macau medical and health experts will also visit hospitals and laboratories to familiarize themselves with the works of local medical professionals during their stay in Hong Kong.
The Guangdong and Macau delegations will be led by the Deputy Director-General of the Health Department of Guangdong Province, Ms Wang Zhi Qiong and the Director of the Department of Health of the Macau SAR Government, Dr Koi Kuok-leng, respectively. The leader of the Hong Kong team is the Deputy Director of Health, Dr Leung Pak-yin.
