************************************************ The Chief Executive, Mr Tung Chee Hwa, attended the funeral service of Dr Tse Yuen-man to pay his last respect to her this morning (May 22). He said Dr Tse had faithfully discharged her duty and sacrificed her life to save others. Many residents considered her the pride of Hong Kong and its health care workers. He said Dr Tse's story was a shining example to Hong Kong residents. The Chief Executive has announced that the Government will seek approval from the Legislative Council's Finance Committee for $200 million to establish a fund. Of this sum, $70 million will be used to assist health care workers infected with the disease and the remaining $130 million will be used for strengthening their studies and training. To commemorate Dr Tse, known as the Daughter of Hong Kong, Mr Tung has decided to name the fund for studies and training as "Dr Tse Yuen-man Training Fund".
He hoped that the fund would help nurture more outstanding and kindhearted doctors like Dr Tse who had wholeheartedly served the community. End/Thursday, May 22, 2003 NNNN
