The Leisure and Cultural Services Department announced today (May 17) that the children's play rooms at its leisure venues would reopen on Monday, May 19.
The children's play rooms have been closed since March 28 as a preventive measure against atypical pneumonia.
A spokesman for the department said that all the 20 play rooms will be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected before reopening. Ventilation will be improved and air conditioning systems will be thoroughly cleaned and checked.
"The department has also instructed venue staff to step up cleaning measures. All equipment and installations will be cleaned and disinfected at least four times a day during opening hours, and again during breaks and after closure.
"Notices will be posted at venues to remind people suffering from respiratory tract infections not to enter the children's play rooms. Venue staff will closely monitor the use of the play rooms and advise those found with symptoms of respiratory disease to leave and seek medical attention."
