Situation report on atypical pneumonia

The following is jointly issued by the Department of Health and the Hospital Authority:

As at 1 pm today (May 9), there is an additional 6 patients confirmed to have atypical pneumonia following admission to public hospitals earlier.

A total of 1015 patients have recovered from atypical pneumonia and have been discharged from public hospitals. Of them, 7 were discharged today. There are now 442 patients in hospital, of whom 95 are recovering patients who are in convalescence and preparation for discharge.

Most of the patients currently in hospital are showing positive responses to the treatment protocol. Sixty-six patients are receiving treatment in intensive care unit.

Two patients died in Queen Mary Hospital (QMH) and Caritas Medical Centre (CMC) respectively. This brought to 210 the total number of deaths relating to atypical pneumonia.

The deceased include a 70-year-old man and an 87-year-old woman. Their information is as follows:
