Home Affairs to hold regional talks on drainage systems in buildings

The Home Affairs Department will organise a series of free talks this month (May) on drainage systems in buildings and the Amoy Gardens findings.

Owners and tenants of private buildings, office-bearers of owner' corporations and building management company personnel are invited to attend the talks, which will give an insight into the configuration, repair and maintenance of drainage systems in buildings.

Details of the talks, which are co-organised by the Buildings Department and the Hong Kong Coalition of Professional Services, are as follows:

1) New Territories East - May 13, 2003 (Tuesday) from 7.30pm to 9pm at Tai Po Community Centre, Tai Po Heung Sze Wui Street, Tai Po;

2) Hong Kong - May 14, 2003 (Wednesday) at 7.30pm to 9pm at Causeway Bay Community Centre, 7 Fook Yum Road, North Point;

3) New Territories West - May 19, 2003 (Monday) at 7.30pm to 9pm at Lai King Community Hall, Lai King Hill Road, Kwai Chung; and

4) Kowloon - May 22, 2003 (Thursday) at 7.30pm to 9pm at Henry G Leong Yau Ma Tei Community Centre, 60 Public Square Street, Yau Ma Tei.

A representative of the Buildings Department will brief participants on the main findings of an investigation into the outbreak of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome at Amoy Gardens, while a representative of the Hong Kong Coalition of Professional Services will introduce the general configuration, repair and maintenance of drainage systems in buildings.
