The Education and Manpower Bureau (EMB) will organise a series of briefing sessions from May 8 to May 10 to help parents prepare themselves and their children for the phased class resumption for primary schools, special schools and kindergartens this month.
EMB announced last week that Primary Four and above at primary and special schools (except schools for the mentally handicapped) would resume classes on May 12, while classes of Primary Three and below, schools for the mentally handicapped, kindergartens and child care centres would resume on May 19 according to a tentative schedule.
During the briefing sessions, representatives of the Department of Health will update parents on the latest developments in the atypical pneumonia situation. EMB staff and school heads will also talk about the arrangements for class resumption and remind parents to pay extra attention to the state of their children's health.
Representatives of the Committee on Home-School Cooperation will also give their views on the important role of parents in class resumption.
