DoH meets WHO senior adviser

****************************

The Director of Health, Dr Margaret Chan, today (April 24) welcomed World Health Organisation (WHO) Senior Adviser, Dr William Cocksedge, who has flown into Hong Kong to pave the way for the WHO team's arrival over the next few days.

Dr Cocksedge's arrival followed Dr Chan's invitation for WHO to send an environmental health team here to conduct studies in relation to the transmission of serious acute respiratory syndrome in residential buildings in the territory.

"I believe the information derived from such studies will benefit Hong Kong as well as the international community," Dr Chan said.

The WHO team will be staying in Hong Kong for approximately three weeks.
